ARE LAB GROWN DIAMONDS AND CUBIC ZIRCONIA (CZ) THE SAME THING?
No, they are definitely are not the same thing. A lab grown diamond is considered as a real
diamond and has the same physical, chemical, and optical properties as that of natural
diamonds.
Cubic Zirconia, on the other hand, only looks like a diamond but doesn’t possess the same
chemical composition, and is termed as a fake diamond. Cubic Zirconia is a lab created
amaterial which is hard, colourless and doesn’t have any flaws or inclusions in it. Due to the
absence of any sort of inclusions, this man made material has immense clarity and brilliance.
It is much cheaper than a natural diamond or a man made diamond.

ARE LAB GROWN DIAMONDS AND SYNTHETIC DIAMONDS THE SAME THING?
Yes, these two terms mean the same thing. Whether you call it a synthetic diamond or lab grown diamonds, they both will mean, a diamond which is created in a lab under a controlled environment by humans.

ARE JEWELERS ABLE TO CONFIRM WHETHER A DIAMOND IS LAB GROWN OR NOT?
Yes, they can confirm it. Given they know where to look and what to look at. Firstly, lab grown diamonds come with a certificate, if a jeweller can prove that the certificate provided is authentic then they can prove that the diamond they have is a lab grown diamond.
A lab grown diamond has a mark on its girdle, which is inscribed by a diamond grading institution. This declares that the diamond is authentic and a lab grown diamond. If a jeweller can recognize that, then he/she can tell whether a diamond is lab grown or not.

CAN SOMEONE RE-SELL THEIR LAB GROWN DIAMONDS?
Of course, you can re-sell your lab grown diamonds, just like you can re-sell your natural diamonds. Lab grown diamonds have a resale value as a portion of their original price, just like in the case of natural diamonds.

DO LAB GROWN DIAMONDS CHANGE COLOUR OVER TIME?
No, lab grown diamonds do not change colour or fade overtime.

ARE LAB GROWN DIAMONDS ECO-FRIENDLY AND SUSTAINABLE?
Yes, they definitely are. As the process of creating lab-created diamonds doesn’t involve the destruction of nature and causing of pollution. Thus making lab grown diamonds eco-friendly. They are sustainable as these diamonds are created on the basis of how much raw material you can provide, hence giving the control of the production to humans and nature. Hence, an unlimited supply can be obtained which will help satisfy the demand.

CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT THIS SCIENTIFIC BREAKTHROUGH OF MAN MADE DIAMONDS?
Many scientists and inventors tried different methods to produce man made diamonds, but they all failed. It wasn’t until the 1890s, Henri Moissan created a diamond by heating a piece of charcoal to 3500°C inside a carbon cubicle. Several people tried to copy and improve this method but were unsuccessful.
However in 1954, the first man made diamond was formed by the HPHT synthetic diamond making method. This was done by the GE invention of the belt press. It puts a pressure of 1.5 million pounds/square inch and applied temperatures over 2000°C. Using this belt created an HPHT synthetic diamond. The CVD diamond making method came after the HPHT method.

ARE LAB GROWN DIAMONDS REAL DIAMONDS?
Yes, these lab created diamonds are considered real diamonds. The reason being, that they have the same physical, chemical and optical properties as that of natural diamonds. Making them no different from real/natural diamonds, the only difference is in the process which is used to create them.

WHAT IS THE PRICE OF A LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS (LGD)?
The price varies due to the difference in cut, clarity, carat weight and colour. To give you a rough estimate, the price of a lab grown diamond is 30% less than a natural diamond with the same properties, shape and size.

WHAT ARE THE ENVIRONMENTAL AND HUMANITARIAN ISSUES WITH EARTH-MINED DIAMOND?
Naturally mined diamonds have been causing pollution and destruction to the environment since the beginning of time. These natural diamonds when mined out of deep caves and diamond mines, take a deadly toll on the environment. The effects on the environment is soil erosion, water pollution, air pollution, carbon emission increase, deforestation and much more.
Other than that, there are various humanitarian issues regarding the mining of natural diamonds. As it has been found that in many cases the miners working in these mines don’t have the proper equipment, clothes or even footwear. They suffer from lung diseases and are prone to many illnesses. It is as if these people are not even considered human, such factors result in human rights violations and earth-mined diamond being looked down upon.

ARE LAB GROWN DIAMONDS CONFLICT FREE?
Yes, lab grown diamonds are referred to as conflict-free diamonds. As these diamonds are not used/sold to fund conflicts and wars, but rather are only used for jewellery and industry possesses. These lab grown diamonds are called as conflict-free diamonds.

ARE LAB GROWN DIAMONDS ECO-FRIENDLY AND GREEN?
Yes, lab grown diamonds are eco-friendly and green. The reason being that these diamonds do not cause the same destruction and pollution as that caused by extracting natural diamonds.

WILL AN INSURANCE COMPANY COVER LAB GROWN DIAMONDS?
Yes, you can get a lab grown diamond insured and assured easily. An organization which may insure a lab grown diamond is the American Gem Registry.

ARE LAB GROWN DIAMONDS LEGAL?
Yes, they are completely legal to buy and purchase. There is no crime in creating man made diamonds or selling them off.
